Daar is jou antwoord:

A Pan-Hellenic festival in ancient Greece consisting of athletic games and contests of choral poetry and dance, first celebrated in 776 B.C. and held periodically until A.D. 393 on the plain of Olympia in honor of the Olympian Zeus. Also called Olympian games.

Zeus = The principal god of the Greek pantheon, ruler of the heavens, and father of other gods and mortal heroes. The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language.

Olympian = Of or relating to the greater gods and goddesses of the ancient Greek pantheon, whose abode was Mount Olympus. Sports. Of or relating to the Olympic games.

One of the 12 major gods and goddesses inhabiting Mount Olympus.

A contestant in either the ancient or the modern Olympic games.

Because we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against authorities, against the world-rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual matters of wickedness in the heavenlies.

Lynch and Huang also do not claim that their parenthesis is brand new. They admit that they have taken ideas that have been around for thousands of years, and put them together in a conceivable postulate, or form. They also reckon that athletes most often practice one of the methods -- not necessarily their own triad as a whole. Here goes their essential recipe for sporting success:

When you go to a gym/practice session, meditate for 10-15 minutes: to empty your mind
Visualise the workout you wish to do as clearly, and lucidly, as you can
Follow-up with affirmation recitation, or reinforcement. Examples: “I’m victorious because I feel this way.” “Win or lose, I play... prepare like a champion,” etc., [Or, “Winning is only the outcome: doing what you love to do is the real thing”].

The trick, define Lynch and Huang, is to erase the negative feelings out of your mind. They emphasise: when you do your workout/practice session, you ought to visualise what is exactly happening internally.

You should also feel the rush of blood into your muscles -- and, ultimately relax yourself when you go through those precise, prescribed motions. When you do that, Lynch and Huang add, you will be able to do better and also get a wonderful balance account of breakthroughs from your workout.

Training = Meditation

Training, according to the two experts, is meditation. And, practice? It is one that takes your mind off the outcome. It’s simple arithmetic, really. When you think too much about results, “it leads to anxiety and tension.” Or, unwanted stress, and extreme tactility in movement. Tao, aver Lynch and Huang, is the track of infinitesimal hindrance -- a way of nature, and natural truth. It makes gifts even out of failures, because if you’ll only notice what went wrong, failure could be used to your advantage: by donning the role of a teacher, for your own good. Yes, failure helps you to tighten up. When you use failure as an avenue of opportunity, only then will you be no longer afraid of it.

Yes, you’d possibly embrace or dismiss the duo’s programme to cultivating your inner athlete (spirit) (insert mine) by way of two extreme responses to it. More palpably, on the basis of its spiritual compass. But, no! Tao’s sense of spirituality, assert Lynch and Huang, is not only about the spirit, but the basic of the essentials we all have when we feel good.

Think of a bench press, the next time round, as composed vigour, or a practice drive, if you are a batsman -- as being one with the Cosmos. [Transcendental Meditation (TM) ] Of a method in harmony with nature, and a relaxed response to perfection -- an excursion that is firm, but not rigid. Because, Tao sports is tailor-made to bringing a delicate balance between mellowness and intensity -- of a roadmap to being persistent, patient, and committed. Of a vision to deal with failure, and self-doubt.

The English meditation is derived from the Latin meditatio, from a verb meditari, meaning "to think, contemplate, devise, ponder, meditate".[11]

In the Old Testament hagâ (Hebrew: הגה), means to sigh or murmur, but also to meditate. When the Hebrew Bible was translated into Greek, hagâ became the Greek melete. The Latin Bible then translated hagâ/melete into meditatio.[12] The use of the term meditatio as part of a formal, stepwise process of meditation goes back to the 12th century monk Guigo II.[13]

Apart from its historical usage, the term meditation was introduced as a translation for Eastern spiritual practices, referred to as dhyana in Buddhism and in Hinduism, which comes from the Sanskrit root dhyai, meaning to contemplate or meditate.[4][14] The term "meditation" in English may also refer to practices from Islamic Sufism,[15] or other traditions such as Jewish Kabbalah and Christian Hesychasm.[16] An edited book about "meditation" published in 2003, for example, included chapter contributions by authors describing Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Islamic, and Taoist traditions.[17][18] Scholars have noted that "the term 'meditation' as it has entered contemporary usage" is parallel to the term "contemplation" in Christianity.[19]

Transcendental Meditation (TM) refers to the Transcendental Meditation technique,[1] a specific form of mantra meditation, and to the Transcendental Meditation movement, a spiritual movement.[2][3] The TM technique and TM movement were introduced in India in the mid-1950s by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi (1914–2008) and had reached global proportions by the 1960s.

The TM technique came out of and is based on Indian philosophy and the teachings of Krishna, the Buddha, and Shankara, as well as the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali,[4] and is a version of a technique passed down from the Maharishi's teacher, Brahmananda Saraswati. The Maharishi also developed the Science of Creative Intelligence (SCI), a system of theoretical principles to underlie this meditation technique. Additional technologies were added to the Transcendental Meditation program, including "advanced techniques" such as the TM-Sidhi program (Yogic Flying).

TM is one of the most widely practiced, and among the most widely researched meditation techniques.[5][6][7][8] Independent[9] systematic reviews have not found health benefits for TM beyond relaxation or health education.[10][11][12] Transcendental Meditation was held to be a religion in a New Jersey court case.[13][14] Skeptics have called TM or its associated theories and technologies a pseudoscience.[15][16][17] As many as six million people have been trained in the TM technique, including The Beatles, Russel Brand, and other well-known public figures.

In the 1950s, the Transcendental Meditation movement was presented as a religious organization. By the 1970s, the organization had shifted to a more scientific presentation while maintaining many religious elements.[4] The movement now describes itself on a spiritual, scientific, and non-religious basis. This shift has been described by both those within and outside the movement as an attempt to appeal to the more secular West.[4] The TM movement has programs and holdings in multiple countries.

when H3588 they say H559 unto H413 you, Seek H1875 unto H413 familiar spirits, H178 and unto H413 wizards H3049 that peep, H6850 and mutter: hagâ (meditate) H1897 should not H3808 a people H5971 seek H1875 unto H413 their Elohim? H430 for H1157 the living H2416 to H413 the dead? H4191 To the law H8451 and to the testimony: H8584 if H518 they speak H559 not H3808 according to this H2088 word, H1697 it is because H834 there is no H369 light H7837 in them. [Jesaja 8:19-20]

[Johannes 8:12] . . . . Nog ‘n klein tydjie is die lig by julle.

Destined to Love

deur Rachelle du Bois

As she sat down on her suitcase, despair almost overwhelmed her. The events of the past week should have prepared her for something like this – this old house with this overgrown garden in this godforsaken little town in the eastern Free State of South Africa, which was left to her by a grandmother she had not known existed. But as she steadily began uncovering the secrets of her granny’s and her mother’s past, she found her destiny here, irrevocably linked to her smouldering neighbour, Julian du Toit. He'd made a promise to her grandmother that he fully intended to keep.
